El evento, bajo el tema Innovación y desarrollo en enfermería, se celebró entre el 6 y el 10 de mayo de 2019 en la Escuela Superior de Enfermagem do Porto (Escuela de Enfermería de Oporto), Oporto, Portugal.
El suplemento reúne en las lenguas portuguesa, inglesa y española 66 trabajos enfocados en temas de salud, identificación de necesidades y estrategias de intervención a lo largo de la vida (niños, adolescentes, adultos, personas mayores) y contextos específicos
(hospitales, centros de salud) así como contextos familiar y comunitario, entre otros.

El compendio de artículos incluidos en este «Suplemento Digital de Revista ROL de Enfermería» es el resultado de un trabajo de análisis y selección de las mejores aportaciones recogidas en la Semana Internacional de Investigación, Innovación y Desarrollo en Enfermería organizada, por un grupo de investigadores del CINTESTS – Centro de Investigación en Tecnología y Servicios de Salud, integrado en el grupo de investigación en Enfermería (NursID).

The International Week in Research, Innovation and Development in Nursing was organized by a group of researchers of
CINTESTS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research, integrated into the Nursing research group (NursID).
The event, under the theme Innovation and Development in Nursing, was held between 6 and 10 May 2019 at Escola Superior
de Enfermagem do Porto (Nursing School of Porto), Porto, Portugal. NursID 2019 focused on health research, with no disciplinary boundaries and included lecturers from several areas of knowledge, aiming at contributing to the dissemination of research in teaching, research units and clinical practice.
The event provided an excellent opportunity for the sharing of knowledge, experience and evidence deriving from research, fostering partnerships between researchers, with particular emphasis on the ongoing research projects of the Nursing Research Group (NursID), integrated in CINTESIS.
The programme included different presentations – courses, seminars and an
international congress including poster
presentation, oral communications conferences
and debates.
The event gathered national and international lecturers, enabling the dissemination of research projects and outcomes, the development of research skills and raising the debate on several core topics:
• Health literacy;
• Nursing education;
• Scientific evidence in nursing;
• Nurses’ pivotal roles;
• Populations outreach;
• Empowerment in nursing.
241 researchers from several countries registered in the International Week and participated in 105 Poster presentations, 115 Oral communications, 8 Seminars, 11 Lectures; and 2 Courses.
This supplement comprising 66 articles, focuses on health issues, the identification of needs and intervention strategies throughout the lifespan – children, adolescents, adults, older people, and specific contexts – Hospital, Health Centres, Family Context, Community Context, among others.
The articles address some main topics:
Data on family needs and more effective types of intervention; Epidemiological data on multiple nursing diagnoses;
Data on the effectiveness of Nursing interventions; Data on the importance of evidence in Health; Data on the main problems reported by students; Data on health communication strategies; Data on the importance of Literacy in Health and Mental Health; Data on the advantages of simulation in medical and nursing teaching – contributions to patient safety; Data on the development of palliative
care in dementia – the importance of establishing guidelines, the importance of creating the caregiver status, empowerment and evaluation of the caregiver; Data on the importance of healthy work
contexts and health promoters
